The briefing
When a buyer asks an AI assistant for a shortlist, a familiar search ranking is no longer the whole picture. For marketing leaders, that raises a practical question: does the brand appear in the answer?
What launched
HubSpot announced HubSpot AEO on April 14, 2026. The tool helps marketers understand how their business appears in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, with recommendations for improving visibility.
The launch announcement describes a brand visibility dashboard, sentiment analysis, competitor share of voice and citation analysis. Within Marketing Hub, CRM-powered prompt suggestions are intended to make monitoring more relevant to the business and its buyers.
One distinction matters: the April announcement said the ability to execute recommendations directly inside the tool would arrive later in the year. Teams should confirm current availability before buying.
Why it deserves a closer look
Our view: the useful shift is from occasional manual checks to a repeatable measurement process. A visibility score becomes valuable when a team can connect it to a decision about content, positioning or distribution.
Start with a focused pilot
Choose a small set of questions that real prospects ask. Record the prompts, dates and answer engines so comparisons remain interpretable. Review mentions and citations alongside qualified visits and enquiries; do not treat visibility alone as revenue.
Before committing, ask the vendor about prompt coverage, refresh frequency, exports and which capabilities are included in your plan. Set a baseline, make a limited content change and review the evidence before expanding.
